Discussion Topic Part 1
Create a group plan for one session for a specific population based on your theoretical orientation, and demonstrate how you would use it in your profession. In your participation posts, respond to other peer group session plans, giving suggestions for improvement or other observations that would be helpful as a group facilitator.
Self-Assessment Discussion Board. Complete the self-assessment located in Course Documents. Post the summary of your answers here as indicated in the assessment. After posting your summary, also answer the following questions:
What statement would you use to summarize your multicultural awareness, knowledge, and skills?
In which areas have you seen some growth and improvement?
In which areas do you need further development?
What ideas are you going to build upon from this class to increase your multicultural competence?
Be sure to explore some of the summary statements that your classmates have posted. What comments can you give them that would help further their development? Any ideas from the readings and resources that might apply?

Resource: Complete the Self-Reassessment: An Inventory of Your Views on the Process and Practice of Groups
The purpose of this inventory is to see how your attitudes about the practice of group work may have changed.
Remember, this is not a traditional multiple-choice test in which your task is to select the one best answer. Instead, the instrument challenges you to reflect on your thoughts and attitudes about how you might work with the concerns of clients. For each item, select the letter of the response that most clearly reflects your viewpoint at this time. In some cases, you might want to select more than one response. In others, you might not like any of the four responses listed, in which case you can create your own response next to the letter “e” or use the blank line to qualify your response.
After you have completed your inventory, compare your answers to the inventory that you completed in Unit 1 and write a 350-word of reflection. You should include things that have changed and what influenced those changes. This should be a general reflection of what you have learned and will be doing differently in future groups. Be sure to include the multicultural components as indicated at the end of these questions.
Additional questions can be found on pp. 22–25 in your Groups book by Corey. This is the MAKSS (Multicultural Awareness, Knowledge, and Skills Survey). For these questions, you may answer the questions in your text (trying not to be biased from your first answers) and answer the following questions as part of your Assignment:
